IE not opening new windows

Hey, I've recently started having a problem on this machine that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced or better yet, solved. When browsing with IE, pressing enter on a link that is suppose to open a new window often causes nothing to happen. A good example is the list of logged on users on the top of each page here on the Zone. Moving to one of these links and pressing enter to see the profile in a new window just causes IE to sit there. It doesn't hang or anything, but it doesn't open the new window. Links that open in the same window have no problems. I've disabled the Google Toolbar, which was the one popup blocker I was using. I also don't think this is a screen reader issue as I have had the problem with multiple screen readers running. Besides switching fulltime to Firefox, Anyone have any ideas?

If using Jaws I'd try shift enter to see if that helps.
Are you using IE6 or 67? that could be a factor as well.

I'm using IE 7. Shift Enter does not fix the problem, I meant to include that in my original message.

Well, switch to firefox. LOL. I haven't had this problem. Is your windows popup blocker turned on? I didn't think it was that good, but still. And, what happens when you right-click, or press your applications key and go to open?

That does sound like a popup blocker thing. Have you installed any toolbars recently? like the google one or the yahoo one? I know sometimes they can interfere with windows opening, because they try to be popup blockers as well. When did you install IE 7?

The poster already said that google toolbar has been disabled.

Have you tried Control + Enter? I'm assuming it's supposed to do the same as Shift Enter, but on mine shift enter doesn't work, but control enter does. And have you double checked your pop up blocker settings in Internet Explorer?

Make sure that you are using the latest version of Jaws8. From what I hear it's supposed to work the best with iE7. Also, see if Jaws is set to refresh the page.

Also ceck the popup blocker in ie. You can do this by pressig alt fr the menu. Then arrow to terigh until you hear tools. The pop u[p blocker shoould be the frst opion. Pres ente. I tin there is a settig to allow all pop ups from a certaiin ste.

JAWS hasn't a thing to do with IE not opening up pages.

And, I already talked about the popup blocker. I don't think the windows popup blocker will block links here on the zone.

Naturally, I don't know because I'm not in front of that computer, but I'd bet there is an IE app there somewhere like the google bar, the msn bar, all these guys who want to "make things easier for you."

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions on this. I think I have found the problem. About a week ago, I installed PalTalk to see how accessible or inaccessible it was. Naturally, it was pretty inaccessible. What I didn't realize, in addition to just installing the application, it also installed a toolbar for IE. I think this toolbar was causing my issue. I turned it off and now everything works ok. Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Do you happen to know what toolbar that was?

It was just called a PalTalk Toolbar! I'm assuming it was one of those things that allowed users to quickly jump to certain areas of PalTalk. It would sure be nice if PalTalk was accessible, it is a pretty cool service!

What does it do?
